New! Practice Information

Beginning Monday, September 10, 2007 Shaker Swimming will be offering Masters group practices Monday and Wednesday at the Shaker Middle School Pool, Tuesday and Thursday at the Woodbury Pool from 5:45 - 7:15 AM and Saturday morning at the Woodbury pool from 7:00 - 8:15 AM. All practices will be structured, organized, supervised, and coached by a Shaker Swimming coach.

New! About Shaker Swimming

Shaker Swimming has been a powerhouse within the Northeastern Ohio region for over 20 years. Under the guidance of Ernest Welsch through the 80’s and 90’s, the Shaker Swimming High School program achieved unequaled success of any public school. Eric Peterson will coach the Woodbury practices. Coach Peterson has coached extensively in Northeast Ohio for over 15 years at various levels. Coach Peterson is entering his sixth season as the Head Coach of the Shaker Sharks Swimming program and High School Swim Team. Tina McCauley will coach the Middle School practices. Coach McCauley is entering her sixth year teaching physical education with the Shaker Heights City Schools. Coach McCauley has an impressive swimming coaching background at all levels and has been involved with our masters program for the past two summers. She is entering her sixth year with the Shaker Sharks Swimming program.

New! Registration and Fee Information

Shaker Swimming is registering as an independent masters group, beginning with the 2007-2008 registration year. In the past we have been associated with the OHIO MASTERS group. We will now be our own independent group. Please complete the Emergency Medical Form. Return this form with a copy of your current USMS registration and payment made payable to Shaker Swimming. All participants must be USMS registered in order to attend.

Fees

The fee schedule will remain the same as in 2006. It is available online. A one time “drop in” charge of $5 will be assessed to those individuals attending on an infrequent basis. All checks should be made payable to Shaker Swimming and can be sent to Shaker Swimming, P.O. Box 201009, Shaker Heights, OH 44120 or brought directly to the pool. Directions to Woodbury Pool

Woodbury Pool is located at the Woodbury Elementary School within the Shaker Heights City Schools campus. The school address is 15400 South Woodland Road, Shaker Heights, Ohio 44120. From I-271 exit at Chagrin Blvd. Take Chagrin Blvd. West to Richmond Rd. Turn right on Richmond Rd. At the third stoplight, turn left onto South Woodland Rd. (approximately 5 miles). The school is located on the left. Turn left onto Woodbury Rd. at the stoplight after passing in front of the school. You will need to park in the second lot on your left between the Woodbury School and Onaway Elementary School buildings. Enter the pool through the doors located immediately off the parking lot. The main school doors are not open at this time in the morning.

Directions to the Middle School Pool

The Middle School Pool is located at the Shaker Heights Middle School, 20600 Shaker Boulevard, Shaker Heights, Ohio 44122. You will need to enter the pool from the north side of the building heading East on Shaker Boulevard. The pool entrance doors are located on the northeast side of the building past the auditorium towards the athletic fields. Ample parking and locker rooms with showers are available during practice times.
