Silver Championship Warm-up Information

Silver Championships (March 5 - 7)
Location: Ocasek Natatorium, University of Akron
Friday (all age groups)
Warm-ups will begin at 4:45 p.m.
Meet will begin at 5:35 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday morning (12 and under swimmers)
Warm-ups will begin at 7:45 a.m.
Meet will begin at 8:35 a.m.
Saturday afternoon (13 and over swimmers)
Warm-ups will NOT begin before 1:45 p.m.
Meet will begin 50 minutes after the start of warm-ups
Sunday afternoon (13 and over swimmers)
Warm-ups will NOT begin before 1:00 p.m.
Meet will begin 50 minutes after the start of warm-ups
All sessions are long. Please bring something to do (cards, homework, games, etc.) and plenty of food, extra towels, and warm clothes.

Directions: I-271 South to Route 8 South. Follow Rt. 8 into Akron to the Buchtel exit. Go right off the exit. Go left on Carroll Street. The Natatorium will be on the right at the corner of Carroll and Spicer Streets. There is parking available in the lot, or across the street near the James A. Rhodes Arena, or in the parking garage. Don’t forget to download a parking pass and display it on your dash board during the meet.
Please be at the pool 15 minutes prior to the start of warm-ups. Swimmers will need to check in for ALL their events each day. Also, please check in with a Shaker coach when you arrive.
Practice Information

PRACTICE INFORMATION:
Beginning the week of March 1, there will be no Tuesday and Thursday morning practice at the Shaker Middle School.
The Shaker Middle School will be hosting a basketball tournament on Tuesday, March 2, Wednesday, March 3, and Thursday, March 4; therefore, swimmers will not be permitted in the locker rooms before, during and after practice. If swimmers choose to swim at the Middle School on March 2, March 3, or March 4, they must wear their suit to practice and shower at home after practice. Thank you.
Friday, March 5: We will follow a regular practice schedule; however, since there is no school for grades K – 6 (Professional/Clerical Day) there will be no Woodbury Sharks morning practice. Woodbury Shark swimmers are encouraged to attend one of the evening practices at the Middle School (5:20 – 6:00 p.m. or 6:40 – 7:20 p.m.).
Saturday, March 6: There will be no select youth or preselect youth practice (9:30 – 11:00 a.m.) or youth shark practice (11:00 – 11:40 a.m.) at the Middle School due to the Silver Championship meet.
Beginning Monday, March 15, the 3:45 – 5:15 p.m. practices will no longer be held at the Middle School.
- Eighth grade swimmers should attend the Senior Shark Group practice. These practices are Monday through Friday from 3:45 – 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. at the Woodbury Pool.
- Seventh grade swimmers should ask Brendan which practice they should attend.
Monday, March 15 – Saturday, April 10, select youth practice will be from 5:45 – 7:15 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Woodbury Pool. Saturday select youth and preselect youth practices will be held from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. at the Middle School Pool.
Beginning Monday, April 12, select youth practice will be from 5:45 – 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Woodbury Pool. Saturday select youth and preselect youth practices will be held from 9:15 – 11:00 a.m. at the Middle School Pool.

No SHSH Practices Today, 2/26

The Shaker schools have closed due to severe weather so there will be no Shaker Shark practices today, February 26th.
New Swimmer Tryouts

We will have tryouts for new swimmers on Monday, March 1 and Wednesday, March 10 at 7:20 p.m. at the Shaker Middle School. Select Youth Practice Change - February 5

There will be no select youth practice at the Woodbury Pool on Friday, February 5. Select youth swimmers should attend either the 3:45 – 5:15 p.m. or the 6:40 – 7:40 p.m. practice at the Middle School. Preselect, all Sharks, and developing Shark practices will remain the same at the Middle School.
Bowling Information

The Shaker Sharks Bowling Party is Sunday, January 31 at Southgate Lanes in Maple Heights.
All the time slots are full. Thank you for signing up in advance. Swimmers will receive bowling time, shoe rental, pizza, and pop. We cannot accept walk-ins.
Since bowling is full, shark swimmer siblings will not be permitted to bowl with the team.
New Swimmer Tryouts

We will have tryouts for new swimmers on Wednesday, February 3, Monday, March 1 and Wednesday, March 3 at 7:20 p.m. at the Shaker Middle School. We will also have tryouts on Saturday, March 13 at 11:40 a.m. at the Shaker Middle School. Please have your child ready to swim. Championship Meet Information

Entry forms for the following meets are available here and at practice:

8 and Under Championships are Sunday, February 21 at Youngstown State University. This meet is for 8 and under swimmers only who have competed in a previous meet this season (excluding the Shaker Shark Time Trial meet). The entry is due Wednesday, January 20.

Bronze Championships are Sunday, February 27 at the University of Akron. You must be slower than the qualifying times to swim in this meet. Entries are due Wednesday, January 27.

Silver Championships are March 5 - 7 at the University of Akron. You must be between the “faster than” and the “slower than” qualifying times to swim in this meet. Entries are due Wednesday, February 10.
- Gold Championships are March 12 - 14 at Cleveland State University. Swimmers must be faster than the qualifying times. Entries are due Wednesday, February 10.
Swimmers who qualify for any of these meets, should attend. Make sure you check with a coach if you are unsure which meets to attend.
