Select youth practice will be from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. at the Woodbury Pool on Friday, May 9 and Friday, May 16 due to a Woodbury School function.

The Youth Summer Schedule has been updated. There will be a dual meet against Purvis Park at Purvis Park on July 16th. See the Youth Meet page for more details!

Wednesday, April 16:  Select youth practice will be from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. at the Woodbury Pool due to Woodbury School Open House.

The bring a friend to practice event has been cancelled.

The website has been updated:

• Under “Youth Sharks” and “Senior Sharks”, the “Meet Info and Results” pages have been updated to display the upcoming Summer 2008 Schedules.  Copies are available for download.  Not all Meet Information files are available yet.
• Under “Top Times”, the All-Time Top 10 High School performers have been added.  Access these via the High School Records page and clicking on an event
• Under “Top Times”, the SHSH Records and Middle School records have been updated to reflect newly broken records
• A new “Poll” feature has been implemented in the right sidebar.  Have fun!

Also in the news, at NCAA Men’s Championships, Cesar Cielo set a new World Record in the 100 yard Freestyle.  He is the first swimmer to go faster than 41 seconds.  Below is a YouTube video of the swim.  Watch him in Lane 4 - his flipturns and kick are amazing!

Dear Shaker Swimmers and Parents,

Congratulations on a successful swim season! Thank you for your continuing support of Shaker Swimming and for your attendance at last night’s awards program. Looking out at all of the smiling faces last night reminds us what a wonderful privilege it is to be part of this dedicated community. Oh, and you all looked dazzling dressed up in St. Paddy’s Day green!

For those who could not attend last night, we are sorry you couldn’t make it. We missed you! You can pick up your Attendance Medal, Team Gift, and any other awards the next time you come to practice.

For those who missed it and for those who would like a copy, we are attaching a copy of the slideshow shown before last night’s ceremony to the end of this post. The slideshow was made possible by the sublime photographic skill and generosity of coaches, parents, and swimmers. Thank you very much, photographers!

In the interest of making a tradition out of this first ever slideshow, we’d like to encourage everyone to take more pictures: at practice, at meets, and at special events! Tryouts for new swimmers will be Tuesday, March 18 at 7:20 p.m. at the Shaker Middle School pool.  If you are unable to attend on Tuesday, March 18, we will have tryouts every Tuesday at 7:20 p.m. at the Shaker Middle School pool.

The Shaker Shark Awards night is Monday, March 17 from 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. in the MS auditorium.  There will be no evening youth shark or select youth practices on March 17 due to the awards night.

Sunday, March 9:  The Silver Championship Meet has been cancelled for Sunday, March 9.  Please do not go to Akron U. for the meet on Sunday.

Friday, March 7 and Saturday, March 8:  Due to the weather all Shaker Shark practices have been cancelled.  Again, there are no Shaker Shark practices Friday, March 7 and Saturday, March 8.  This includes Masters, Sr. Group, select youth and regular shark practices.

Don’t forget that Sunday, March 9 begins daylight savings time.  We spring ahead an hour Saturday night.  Please do not forget to change your clocks.

The date of the Shaker Shark Awards program has been changed to MONDAY, MARCH 17 from 7:30 - 8:30 p.m.  in the MS auditorium.  There will be no evening youth shark pr select youth practices on March 17 due to the awards night.

LE Silver Champs (March 7 - 9)

Friday (all ages) - warm-ups begin at 4:45 p.m.; meet starts at 5:35 p.m.

Saturday & Sunday morning (12 & Under swimmers) - warm-up begins at 7:45 a.m.; meet starts at 8:35 a.m.

Saturday afternoon (13 & Over swimmers) - warm-ups will NOT begin before 1:15 p.m.; the meet will start 50 minutes after the start of warm-ups

Sunday afternoon (13 & Over swimmers) - warm-ups will NOT begin before 12:00 noon; the meet will start 50 minutes after the start of warm-ups

Please be at the pool 10 minutes prior to the start of warm-ups.  Swimmers will need to check in for all their events each day.  Also, please check in with a Shaker coach when you arrive.

Saturday, March 8:  There will be no select youth practice at the Middle School due to the LE Silver Championship Meet.  We will offer youth shark practice from 11:20 a.m. - 12:00 noon.

Beginning Monday, March 10, the 3:45 - 5:15 p.m. MS practice will no longer be held.  Eighth grade swimmers should attend the Sr. Shark practice.  These practices are Monday - Friday from 3:45 - 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. at Woodbury.  Seventh grade swimmers should ask Tina or Brendan which practice they should attend.

Beginning Monday, March 10, Sr. group practice will be from 3:45 - 5:30 p.m. Monday - Friday and Saturday from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. at the Woodbury Pool.

Beginning Monday, March 10, select youth practice will be from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. Monday - Friday and Saturday from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. at the Woodbury Pool.

Beginning Friday, March 14, there will be no 6:40 - 7:20 p.m. practice on Fridays.  Developing sharks should attend the 5:20 - 6:00 p.m. or 6:00 - 6:40 p.m. practice on Fridays.

Beginning Saturday, March 15, developing sharks will be permitted to attend the 11:20 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. youth shark practice at the Middle School.
