Having completed our first meet of the season, we are now able to track each swimmer’s improvements in the 100 second club.  Congratulations to all the swimmers who have improved already!  Improving by 100 seconds (in all events) over the course of a single season will earn the swimmer special recognition.  Please note that the 100 Second Club file is an Excel file.  If you need a different version, please contact us.

Splash Party Information!!

October 20, 2008 by Coach Bryan

Thank you to all the swimmers who participated in the swim-a-thon on Saturday.

If a swimmer was unable to swim his/her laps on Saturday, the swimmer should talk to his/her coach and arrange a time (possibly during shark practice or technique sessions) to swim laps this week.

Any swimmer raising at least $30 in the swim-a-thon is invited to one of the following splash parties:

Shark swimmers who are 5th grade and older will enjoy fun, food and games on Friday, October 24 from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. at the Woodbury pool.

Shark swimmers who are 4th grade and younger will enjoy fun, food and games on Saturday, October 25 from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. at the Woodbury pool.

Swimmers who raise more money will be eligible for additional prizes.  Pizza, pop and snacks will be offered both nights.  Also prizes will be awarded to everyone at the Splash party, so get those pledges and join in a night of fun, food, games and surprises!

All swim-a-thon money should be collected and turned in to Sarah by Friday, October 24 or Saturday, October 25.

Friday, October 24:  There will be no evening youth shark practices or select youth practice due to the 5th grade and older swim-a-thon party at the Woodbury Pool.

In Memory of Glen

August 19, 2008 by Coach Bryan

Glen and his wife Ashley

Shaker Swimming lost one of its own.  Glen Tetzlaff, age 29, Shaker Heights Class of ‘97, passed away August 14th after a brief struggle with cancer.  Glen was a quintessential Shaker Swimmer.  He was a loyal friend, bold leader, incredibly hard worker, and humble record holder.  Glen’s story is proof that you don’t have to win 8 gold medals to be a true champion.

He will be missed by the Shaker Swimming community, his wife, Ashley, his family, and friends.  The family suggests memorial gifts to the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Institute, 9500 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland OH 44195.  Condolences at www.mahermelbourne.com
