New Swimmer Tryouts
October 31, 2008
If you have a swimmer that would like to join the Shaker Sharks, we are having tryouts on the following days:
- Monday, November 3 at 7:20 p.m.
- Wednesday, November 5 at 7:20 p.m.
- Saturday, November 8 at 11:40 a.m.
All tryouts are at the Shaker Middle School. Please have your swimmer ready to swim. You can pick up an information packet from the coaches at tryouts.
Practice Changes
October 31, 2008
There will be no select youth practice on Friday, October 31. There will be no 6:00 - 6:40 p.m., 6:40 - 7:20 p.m. or 6:40 - 7:40 p.m. practice for youth sharks on Friday, October 31 (Happy Halloween). If a swimmer wants to get a practice in on Friday, October 31 please attend the 5:20 - 6:00 p.m. practice.
There will be no morning Woodbury practice on the following days, however there will be youth shaker practices at the Middle School and select youth practice at Woodbury:

100 Second Club

Shaker Swimming charts the overall time dropped by each swimmer in each of their individual events. Attached is a summary of total time dropped thus far this season. When a swimmer reaches “100 seconds” dropped in a season, he/she will receive a “100 Second Club” t-shirt. Euclid Marlins Bronze Meet Information

The Euclid Marlins Bronze Meet is Sunday, December 14. This is a great meet for new swimmers. Swimmers must be slower than the qualifying times to attend this meet. Click Euclid Marlins Bronze Meet Info 08 to get the meet information. Entries are due November 5.

100 Second Club

Having completed our first meet of the season, we are now able to track each swimmer’s improvements in the 100 second club. Congratulations to all the swimmers who have improved already! Improving by 100 seconds (in all events) over the course of a single season will earn the swimmer special recognition. Please note that the 100 Second Club file is an Excel file. If you need a different version, please contact us.

Splash Party Information!!

Thank you to all the swimmers who participated in the swim-a-thon on Saturday.
If a swimmer was unable to swim his/her laps on Saturday, the swimmer should talk to his/her coach and arrange a time (possibly during shark practice or technique sessions) to swim laps this week.
Any swimmer raising at least $30 in the swim-a-thon is invited to one of the following splash parties:
Shark swimmers who are 5th grade and older will enjoy fun, food and games on Friday, October 24 from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. at the Woodbury pool.
Shark swimmers who are 4th grade and younger will enjoy fun, food and games on Saturday, October 25 from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. at the Woodbury pool.
Swimmers who raise more money will be eligible for additional prizes. Pizza, pop and snacks will be offered both nights. Also prizes will be awarded to everyone at the Splash party, so get those pledges and join in a night of fun, food, games and surprises!
All swim-a-thon money should be collected and turned in to Sarah by Friday, October 24 or Saturday, October 25.
Friday, October 24: There will be no evening youth shark practices or select youth practice due to the 5th grade and older swim-a-thon party at the Woodbury Pool.

Swim-a-Thon Information

The Shaker Shark Swim-A-Thon is Saturday, October 18 at the Shaker Middle School. You may choose to swim during ONE of the following time slots:
- 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.
- 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
- 11:00 – 12:00 noon
- 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.
- 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
- 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Sign-up sheets are posted by the technique sign-ups sheets at both the Woodbury and Middle School pools.
